Value the Valley

Don’t we all wish life was honky dory!  If only there were no disappointments, no down days and things go exactly the way we want them.  However, take an honest look back on your life; do you pray more and connect to the spiritual when life is going great or is it when life is difficult?  It is unfortunate that man tends to neglect the need for God when life is comfortable and even more unfortunate that often times it takes a bad situation to force us to seek the face of God.

No one, including myself like the valley experience because it is painful, uncertain, dark and lonely.  However, it is during these times we are forced to fix our eyes on God.  It is in the valley that we learn to trust Him and receive His wisdom and direction.   It is in the valley we build strength and character.

God does not cause bad things to happen to us but God will use the valley experience to force us to rely on Him as our only source of help and to remind us of His ability to provide for us.

I honestly despise the valley experience and I never look forward to them. However, when the inevitable occurs, I know it is time to be still and allow the process to draw me closer to God.  With every valley experience I usually come out with a better understanding of God and myself.

He revives my life; he leads me in pathways that are righteous for the sake of his name. “ (Psalm 23:3)
