The Ministry of ‘one’

Now a days, especially with the social media craze, huge numbers seem to be everything.  There are many who find their worth in the number of followers, facebook friends and video hits.  Sadly, even the church has joined the trend by glorifying in large number of church attendants.

In the Book of Luke, the Bible talks about the woman who went in search for one lost coin.

Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. (Luke 15: 8-10)

This is a very good example of how God wants us to be.  We must be willing to minister with the same passion and zeal for a single person as we would for a large number of people. If even one benefit from us living a godly life, from an encouraging post on social media, from our music or any form of ministry then it’s worth it, especially in God’s eyes. If we minister with this mindset, we won’t get disappointed if only a few person show up or we don’t get a huge social media followers.

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much (Luke 16:10)
